"The Right Design Inspiration"

“This is the part where you study forms to manipulate them, and create your own design language”

Step 01: Choose Inspiration

Choose images that will give you geometries, 3D shapes and not random graphics, make sure the shapes are simple to understand, don’t over complicate things at the beginning, start simple.

Step 02: Understand Forms

It is important to identify the main shape or architecture from your inspirations. What you are looking for is, the “Big Picture”, For example, is it boxy, square, spherical, cylindrical?. Just pure forms!

Step 03: Let’s Pick One!

Let’s choose form “D”. The whole point is to break down the form into primitive shapes. How can this shape be described as? Maybe as two intersected cylinders, with some chamfers. This is the form language we are going to follow.

Step 04: Form Development

Here we are going to play with the fundamental geometries “Two intersected cylinders", by rotating, stretching, slicing, scaling and making combinations, this would help you to understand better the forms.

Step 05: Form Language Proportions

In this phase we are going translate those forms into automotive abstract 3D geometries. Keep in mind proportions, and original shapes. The whole point is to change ratios, gestures, adding wheels, in order to create fresh forms that can be turn into a bold and new designs.

There’s an infinite amount of ways that forms can be executed, have fun finding your own combinations and remember, KEEP IT SIMPLE!
